This spring it finally happened. While traveling through China and South Korea for a few months and taking time off from my job as a management consultant, I decided to pursue my dream and started my own company - Tripulse. A company with the purpose to create sustainable sports clothes which are high-performing, make you feel great, and help to reduce the heavy burden the fashion industry has on the planet and us, the people.

You might wonder why I decided to start this company and what it is really all about - so bare with me, in this blog post I´ll share it with you.

Why I started Tripulse

I´ve been environmentally-conscious for a long time and tried in many ways to reduce my own carbon footprint: I stopped eating meat, used public transport as much as possible, and reduced plastics, to name a few things. But there was always this nagging feeling in me that I was still doing too little, and that the impact I was having was so little compared to what I believe is possible.

Living in Sweden since a few years, enjoying its pure nature and admiring Sweden´s exemplary role in putting sustainability high on the political agenda has made me even more impatient to stop talking and start doing more. And to protect what is still so abundant in this country - but already quite rare in many other parts of our world.

Fast fashion is a problem

I started looking into the most polluting industries in the world and found that the fashion industry with its ever-increasing “fast fashion” movement hits the top ranks - which baffled me a lot. It made me realize that myself and my love for buying new clothes all the time, particularly sports clothes, was actually part of this problem.

I decided I wanted to become part of the solution instead and find ways to contribute to a world in which fashion is being valued again. Fashion that people want to keep and appreciate for as long as possible, rather than throwing it away after a few uses and buying new ones.

I love sports

As much as I love the planet and people, I´ve also been a sports-enthusiast for all of my life. I got to enjoy all kinds of sports - from running and racing, to basketball, high-intensity gym workouts, swimming and yoga - there is almost no sports I haven´t tried and enjoyed. As much as sports has benefited me throughout my whole life and helped me take on ever greater challenges in life, I wish that more people could benefit from it the way I did.

My frustration with sports clothes - a sea of plastics

But with my love for the environment and nature always came the frustration that I hadn't found sports clothes which I felt truly good in. I oftentimes got rashes on my skin when working out in my polyester workout clothes.

I realized that all of my sports clothes are in fact made from synthetics (plastics) like polyester, polyamide and nylon which oftentimes contain harmful substances and that can be absorbed by our skin. On top of that, they release microplastic in our environment every time we wash them.

Looking for high performing and natural alternatives to synthetic activewear, there was nothing I could find. that .

I was frustrated by the fact that according to industry you had to have a different outfit for every single kind of sport, making my closet full of clothes that rarely saw the light of day.

How can this be good for the planet - especially as we wash our sports clothes so often and flush the released micro-plastics into our waters? And how can wearing so much plastic be good for the people and their health?

Be part of the solution, not the problem

I was captivated by these insights and questions and convinced that I had to be part of the solution rather than the problem and decided to take on my quest: To create sports clothes which are truly sustainable, made out of high-quality and performing natural materials that are are not harming our environment nor the people making them, and are in the best case even benefitting them.

Tripulse was born.

What does Tripulse stand for?

Tripulse stands for three major areas - fitness, sustainability and community - symbolized by the “tri” (=three) of the name; and “Pulse” stands for “the pulse or energy of life”. Let me give you a brief intro into what these three words actually mean to me:

1. Fitness

Tripulse is all about being active and doing sports - be it high-intensity workouts in the gym, running in the woods, or doing yoga - we love all kinds of sports. I believe that fitness, both physical and mental, is the foundation for a good life and gives people the courage to live the life they dreamed of, to become their best selves, to make bold moves and to change the world for the better.

Great things in life don´t just ‘happen’ — if you want something done, you’ve got to do it. So Tripulse embraces energy, activity, a positive spirit and a “can-do” attitude.

2. Sustainability

Tripulse has sustainability at its core. From the production process to the chosen materials, and the way we run our business - sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.

We want to reverse the fast fashion trend and bring back the value of high-quality and long-lasting clothes which people can wear and love for a long time.

We want to prove that it is indeed possible to run a viable business while doing good for our planet and people at the same time.

All that being said, we know that we are not perfect and that becoming 100% sustainable is a long way to go. But we don´t want to “BS” anyone and value honesty and transparency, so what you see is what you get.

3. Community

Tripulse believes in the power of a strong community, in lifting each other up, in sharing our stories, so that we can become more active, grow and make a difference in this world together

We know that we can´t do all this alone: If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.

We want to create a thriving community which shares our values and mission so that we together can change the way we make choices and live more active, sustainable and truly connected lives.

Tripulse embraces people´s differences and takes responsibility in a global world. We are a global community which embraces diversity and appreciates the strength and beauty of each individual. We believe everyone has a story worth sharing!

Tripulse celebrates changemakers that are on a mission to make the world a better place.

Be Better!

Our mantra is to Be Better. To Be Better in living more active lives, to Be Better to the environment, to each other - and to strive to be a better version of ourselves every single day.

To sum it all up - our vision is To make fitness a driver for positive change for our planet and people.
