Our holistic approach to sustainability

Ethical supply chain & manufacturing

An ethical and transparent supply chain is a key part of our holistic approach to sustainability. A clear understanding of how our activewear is made and where the materials come from is not a bonus, it's a necessity.

Strict social standards

We make sure to only partner up with those suppliers that adhere to fair and ethical practices, such as conforming to the standards of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and beyond.

Fair trade means that 100% of the collection should be produced under good working conditions. Good working conditions comply with the internationally recognized Standards of the ILO International Labour Organisation through the United Nations:

1. Employment is freely chosen

2. No discrimination

3. No child labor

4. Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining

5. Payment of Living Wage

6. Reasonable Hours of Work

7. Safe and Healthy working conditions

8. Legally Binding employment relationship

Living wage is defined as the remuneration received for a standard workweek by a worker in a particular place sufficient to afford a decent standard of living for the worker and her or his family. Elements of a decent standard of living include food, water, housing, education, health care, transportation, clothing, and other essential needs including provision for unexpected events. As part of the GOTS certification of our manufacturer and suppliers in Portugal, above living wages in line with the above are being paid.

Made in Europe

All our material suppliers as well as our clothing production factory are based in Europe - all countries that have fair labor conditions and laws to protect human rights. On top of that, we can confirm that all employees of our production partners in Europe are paid above minimum wages.

Our suppliers in Portugal get third party audits to ensure their high standards are being adhered to. This is done as part of their GOTS certification which require annual audits (more about the certification and compliance criteria can be found here https://global-standard.org/certification-and-labelling/who-needs-to-be-certified/manufacturing).

An additional audit layer is provided by the bluesign® certification of our fabric suppliers in Portugal. Lenzing as the raw material provider for the TENCEL™ fibers for all our products does annual compliance governance across the entire Lenzing group to avoid that any laws and regulations will be violated. The fibers are also EU EU Ecolabel and FSC-certified which also includes the audit of social factors.

Our standard is to meet and visit our final and second production stage suppliers annually and to get at least written confirmation and or certification proof of the social standards from our final stage suppliers (=internal audits).
